The Nation's Restaurant News Editorial Board annually honors outstanding multi-unit foodservice executives with the Golden Chain Award from Nation's Restaurant News, celebrating the recipients' recent accomplishments and career achievements. Recognized chain and on-site leaders who have made marked strides over the recent 18 months in several of the following areas, resulting in improvement of overall business performance.
The Operator of the Year is one of the Golden Chain Honorees, as voted upon by their restaurant industry peers. Call for votes is communicated by Nation's Restaurant News via "call for action" in MUFSO email blasts, website and newsletter promotions. Voting begins in June and closes at the end of August each year. The winner is announced live at the MUFSO Annual Industry Awards Gala on Monday night.
This award was developed in memory of the late Norman Brinker to recognize an industry executive, annually, whose leadership philosophy and actions have had a significant impact on their industry peers and have also inspired future industry leaders. Award honoree must be a sterling example of continuing the legacy of selfless leadership and mentoring that the late Norman Brinker was so highly regarded for in our industry. This award winner is selected by an Advisory Board comprised of industry luminaries and Norman Brinker protégés.
The Hot Concepts! Awards are selected by the Editorial Board of Nation's Restaurant News and recognize emerging growth concepts that are poised for future growth. Criteria for Hot Concept honorees include: opened their first restaurant unit less than 7 years prior to award recognition, a minimum of 3 restaurant units different market areas or a minimum of 5 units in one market area and solid financial ranking according to Dunn & Bradstreet as well as other financial benchmarks.
This award was developed in honor of Richard Melman, one of the country's greatest restaurant operators of all time. The Richard Melman Innovator of the Year recipient is selected by the editorial board of Restaurant Hospitality, a leading source for full-service restaurant knowledge.
Food Management's Best Concepts competition is designed to recognize and showcase outstanding innovations by the OnSite operator community. Winners will be selected by an FM editorial judging panel and highlighted in exclusive editorial profiles to appear in the August, 2014 issue of Food Management Magazine and recognized in-person at the annual MUFSO conference.
